Description
Navigating the Transition to Carbon Reduction (Decarbonization) Through CHP.
Dramatic changes in energy use by multi-family buildings in Chicago are coming as policymakers
at the federal, state and local levels target the built environment for major reductions in carbon
emissions. Labeled “Decarbonization” these policies will require residential building owners
and managers to consider new designs, materials, operations and energy use to reduce carbon
emissions associated with their buildings.
One key step in this transition is wider adoption of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) technology
in multi-family buildings.
Please join us on Thursday, April 21st for a webinar to learn how innovative CHP can dramatically
reduce the carbon footprint of both new and existing buildings, while also reducing energy costs
and improving energy efficiency. Furthermore, CHP increases energy security and resiliency.
While relatively new to Chicago’s multi-family market, CHP has proven itself in New York City to
be very effective at meeting carbon reduction targets required by local laws.
Our speaker will be Graeme Miller of the US Department of Energy Combined Heat and Power
Technical Assistance Partnership at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
His program “The Potential for CHP in multifamily buildings” will address these topics:
· What is Combined Heat and Power (CHP)
· Saving money with CHP
· Increasing energy resilience and reliability with CHP
· Reducing carbon emissions with gas fired CHP
Join us at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 21st for a Zoom Webinar on CHP. Free to HBAGC Members.
